What It’s Not Designed For

TPH123 vs. 12P: Same Processing System, Different Power Source and Workflow

The TPH123 and the engine-driven 12P use the same core chipping and shredding system. The hammermill, chipper disc, knife, side plates, hoppers, discharge, and changeable screens are shared between the two machines.

The difference is how the machine is powered, mounted, guarded, moved, and used during cleanup.

Choose the 12P if you want a self-contained machine or if your tractor will be used to bring material to a central processing location. Choose the TPH123 if you want your tractor to power the shredder-chipper and move with the machine during cleanup.

• The processing system is the same. The TPH123 and 12P share the same hammermill, chipper disc, knife, side plates, hoppers, discharge, and changeable screen system.
• The power source is different. The 12P has its own gas engine. The TPH123 runs from your tractor’s PTO.
• The cleanup workflow is different. The 12P can be used as a central processing station while a tractor, cart, or loader brings material to it. The TPH123 works best when the tractor stays dedicated to powering and moving the shredder-chipper.
• The drive protection is different. The 12P uses a centrifugal clutch and belt. The TPH123 uses an idler-tensioned belt drive, with the belt acting as the primary fail-safe under load.
